Vignettes—Humbling

Power and position. He stared in the mirror, proud of himself. Yet he felt uneasy. There was something unsettling deep inside him, something drawing him to a place without power and prestige to give of his time and resources. Why would he humble himself and stoop to such a lowly place? He belonged in the halls of the powerful, at the top of this tall glass and steel building, not some lowly forgotten place.

After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way. – Matthew 2:11-12 (NASB)

    1. “Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross (Phillipians 2:8).” Praise God for the salvation He offers through Jesus.
