“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” – Psalm 100:4-5 (NIV)

Thanksgiving Day is everyday. Take time today to give thanks to the Lord God for the blessings he has given you. If you are so inclined, make a comment on something you are thankful for this week.

#ThrowbackThursday — This post originally published Nov. 29, 2018.

In you dear God I find my hope. In Jesus Christ I find my salvation. Without you in my life dear Lord, I would be lost. I do not understand why you would spare a sinner like me, yet you constantly shower me with your grace. You patiently nurture me, deepening my faith. It causes me to praise you even more for what you have done in my life. Thank you God for sending your son Jesus. I praise you for your Word. I praise you dear Lord. All praise to you our Heavenly Father.

“To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” – Jude 1:24-25 (NIV)

Pure praise. What does that look like dear God? To stop myself from moving; to stop my mind from racing thoughts; to approach you with nothing but praise. Shedding all my earthly chains for this moment, I come before you empty. I lift my empty hands to you dear God and exalt your name. You are worthy of all praise. All I am is because of you. You are deserving of all praise.

“Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.” – Psalm 150

This morning God I feel the wind in my hair. It blows forcefully past my face. I hear thunder in the distance. I feel rain falling upon me. A fresh, clean smell fills the air. I praise you God that you fill our senses with your creation. I praise you that you fill us with your Spirit. I praise you that you give us hope in a world filled with hopelessness. I praise you that you are present even in the small things. Thank you for your infinite care for us. Thank you that your grace and mercy abound. I give you praise this morning!

He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth — the Lord God Almighty is his name. – Amos 4:13 (NIV)

This morning my mind is filled with earthly concerns, yet my heart just wants to praise you dear God. I am drawn to the Psalmist who wrote Psalm 150 so many years ago yet it still rings true today.

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord. (NIV)

It was like no piece of art I had ever seen. Golden hues of yellow, orange and red masterfully blended to create a sunset with a brilliance beyond compare. Like silky smooth honey flowing off a sky blue plate, the colors of the setting sun flowed into the water turning it from deep blue to liquid gold. I stood in awe, singing praises for our creator God as this piece of exceptional art unfolded before me, each stroke of his brush revealing the beauty of his creation upon the canvas sky.

Praise to you our Creator God and your infinite creativity evident in this world you gave us. May we take time today to admire the intricate details, the intrinsic beauty of this world you created. Help us to see your work, your hand, in the midst of the scars left on this world by humanity. All praise to you this day Father God, our creator.

I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is no other. – Isaiah 46:5-6 (NIV)

In the quiet of the morning, there is a song on my lips. The words flow gently from my mind, emerging as a soft, fragrant sound of praise to you dear Lord. I praise you for the voice to praise you and the mind that gives me the words. Yet I know you know my thoughts, that even without the sound of praise to you, you know my heart; you know my inner most being. Praise to you dear God that you have entered my life and taken hold of me. May I continue to grow deeper in my love for you, my yearning to know your ways. All praise to you dear God for the love and grace you shower upon me. You are deserving of all praise.

Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. – Psalm 33:1-3 (NIV)

Today oh Lord I think of your loving care for us. No matter how ill we feel or discouraged we may be, you are there with a gentle arm around us, holding us ever so carefully. You cradle us in your hand like a fragile piece of fine china. You value us more than anything on earth. We are your precious creation, your prized possession.

All praise to you this morning dear God. We praise you for your love and grace. We praise you for the gift of salvation that you graciously offer to us. May we embrace your gift and never let anyone tell us we don’t deserve it. May we freely accept your gift and not feel we have to earn it. Praise God that we can rest in your son Jesus. All praise to you dear God, You are worthy of all praise. I rest in the knowledge that my life is in your hands.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV)

In the most intricate details of nature, I see the hand of our creator God. I see the rhythm of your order in the rising and setting of the sun and the phases of the moon at night. I see the creek water gently flowing, gently nudged by your hand. I see the minute detail of a flower with your finger print imprinted on it in vibrant colors. With each breath I experience the life you have given me. I am amazed that we are created in your image. You care about the intricate details of our life.

With morning light today, may we sing the praises of your creation. May we lift your name high in thanksgiving for this world and your creation. May we express gratitude for the life you have given us. Give us courage to follow you dear Jesus, to stand firm with you. May we this day be an example of a life lived for you dear God. May we make an impression on others for your name sake.

“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.” – Psalm 96:11-12 (NIV)

This morning Lord I seek purpose. My heart is heavy. This world continues to frustrate me. Help me Lord to seek you, to sing you praises in the midst of my sorrow and hurt. Help me to remember Jesus knows our pain, felt our pain when he walked the earth. Help us to remember we are your creation. Praise God that you consider us family, your child given an eternal inheritance.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well (Psalm 139:13-14, NIV).”
