So they made Him a supper there, and Martha was serving; but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him. – John 12:2, NASB
It’s such a simple statement, but so profound. Lazarus died and was in the tomb for four days, and now days later he is having supper with Jesus. Dining with Jesus is in itself an amazing thought, but to have died and then rise from the dead to have supper with Jesus is even more astounding. Yet that is exactly what believers in Jesus will experience one day.
People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. – Luke 13:29, NIV
Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” – Revelation 19:9, NIV
As a followers of Christ, one day we too will be given new life and share a table with Christ. It’s both humbling and awe inspiring to consider that God would think that highly of us that he offers us a seat at His table. Take a moment to relish that thought.
