Helping Hands

You can feel the conviction inside. God has made you for a reason. He has a purpose for your life. He has given you certain skills that he wants you to use for His Kingdom. Yet maybe it’s overwhelming to think about completing the task God has given you.

You’re not alone. He has also equipped others to assist you. In Exodus, Moses is given specific instructions on how to build the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle. When you read all the specific details in Exodus 25-30, it’s a lot. But it’s reassuring to know that God gave others a heart and the skills to assist Moses:

“And behold, I Myself have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are skillful I have put skill, that they may make all that I have commanded you (Exodus 31:6, NASB).”

God has also given others the heart and skills to join you in serving Him. Prayerfully seek God to reveal those people to you or to help you find others who may need your skills for the task God has given them. Continue to pursue a heart for God and nurture the skills He has given you.

  1. Amen. Throughout my teaching career, God placed helping hands to assist in my growth as an educator. Now retired, these lessons still speak to me in my writing journey.

    1. It’s so good to look back and see how God placed people in our lives to help mentor us. You can see how His hands helped shape and form us for His work. Thanks for sharing your story. Blessings.

      But now, O LORD, You are our Father,
      We are the clay, and You our potter;
      And all of us are the work of Your hand. – Isaiah 64:8

  2. Our church has a food pantry ministry we call Helping Hands. I headed it up for several months. It was supposed to be for 3 months only, but that changed to a permanent position. I had to find a replacement. Little did I know, God had the perfect person already picked out! I asked her and she said yes. She is doing an excellent job! (And it’s a big one!) Blessings, Chris!

    1. Thanks for sharing that. A great example of God providing people to help. It’s so neat to see God’s plans unfold and how he brings people into our lives at just the right time.

  3. Amen, brother Chris. I often remind to myself, especially at work, to lean on my team.

    Come to think of it, in the Bible God rarely called someone to work for him in isolation. And, when He did, like with Jonah, the Lord helped them Himself.

    Your post offers a positive solution to keeping our lives open for the Lord’s business—something I wrote about a few days ago.

    I think you just tagged me “it,” brother. I’m thinking now about more ways to stay on God’s path for our lives.

    As you say, blessings!

    1. Thanks for sharing those thoughts. Yes, God calls us to be in community, to join with others in serving Him. Your comment makes me think of Paul writing about the body of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12:14: “For the body is not one member, but many.”

      Let’s keep that “Open” sign lit and ready to serve Jesus. Blessings, brother.
