The Power of Prayer

Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that You, O LORD, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again.” – 1 Kings 18:37, NASB

Elijah wasn’t there to put on a show or to prove he was right. He was obedient to God’s will and prayed that the Israelites would “know that You, O LORD, are God.” His prayer was about turning their hearts back to God. 

We should desire the same thing—to desire that people “know that You, O LORD, are God” and turn to him instead of the false gods of our age. Our prayers, our deep desire to have others turn to God, can help transform lives. 

The Spirit of God is here today and it can do amazing things in the lives of others that show them Jesus is Lord. It starts with our ernest prayers, a deep desire to have them turn to God—to believe in Jesus and follow him. Our prayers are powerful against the schemes of the evil one (Ephesians 6:11).

Recite the verse (below) today that Elijah prayed, but insert the name of someone you know who doesn’t follow Jesus.
