The Power of the Spirit

Instead of hearing what Stephen had to say, men from the “Synagogue of the Freedmen”chose to argue with him (Acts 6:9, NASB). They were more intent on defending their beliefs and way than learning about the new thing God was doing. “But they were unable to cope with the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking (Acts 6:10).”

Know that there are those who will refuse to humble themselves and hear the Good News. They will seek to tear us down and discredit what we say about Jesus. Take confidence in knowing that when we let the Spirit of God speak through us, they will be confounded just as Stephen’s critics were thousands of years ago.

Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. – Hebrews 13:7-8, NASB
