The Light Side of Darkness

He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the LORD. – Psalm 33:5, NASB

I read this verse and found myself questioning whether the earth is indeed full of the lovingkindness of the Lord. What about all the pain and suffering, the wars and violence? But then it occurred to me that those are the acts of humanity, the harm done to one another. The lovingkindness of God is ever present in this world if we seek it and receive it.

Galatians 5:19-21 reminds us of the source of all that is wrong in the world: “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.” It is the acts of the flesh that are the source of so much evil in this world.

God offers us a different path from the deeds of the flesh. For those who believe in Jesus, we have His Spirit to guide us in His goodness: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23, NASB).” We can see the lovingkindness of God despite all the horrible things we may experience in this life.

Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. – Psalm 23:6, NASB

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. – Ecclesiastes 9:18, NASB

  1. So true. Thing is the fact is that the evil people do some good and the good people do some evil. Which allows the world to be beneficial for all.

Of a truth then, we know that none is perfect but God.

Peoole, however tend to harshly judge the one who falls when walking righteously instead of knowing that man must look to no one but to God as the perfect example.
