Bow of Hope

The storm clouds gather above. Rain pours down, drenching. The waters threaten to rise and overtake. I am bowed down with sorrow. “For the waves of death encompassed me; The torrents of destruction overwhelmed me (2 Samuel 22:6, NASB).” Fear fills me as the storm persists. “Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart is appalled within me (Psalm 144:5),”

Soaked to the bone, tears flow with grief. Dark clouds blot out the sun. “In my distress I called upon the LORD, Yes, I cried to my God; And from His temple He heard my voice, And my cry for help came into His ears (7).” The clouds break apart. I rise and look skyward. Sunlight peers through the darkness. There, in the sky, God’s promise. “I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth (Genesis 9:13).”

Across the sky, His bow. His Hope. “And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away. – Revelation 21:4, NASB

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life. – John 8:12, NASB

  1. Amen! From time to time, life will face daunting storms. These verses remind me that others have also faced their turbulent seas, and the Light filled their hope. Blessings Chris.

    1. Thanks for sharing. That’s such a good perspective. It makes me think of Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.” Blessings.
