Vignettes—If Only

If only there was wisdom to help me understand. If only there was someone to provide counsel for difficult decisions. If only there was someone to provide strength to do the right thing. If only people would not judge just by what they see or hear. If only there was someone who would see me for who I am, someone who understands me.

Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.
