Wake Up Sleepyhead

You’ve had a good meal with friends, singing songs and enjoying each other’s company. It was a joyous moment. Life is good. Now all you want to do is sleep. Your eyelids are heavy, your body tired, yet something is telling you not to sleep.

You try to resist the urge to close your eyes, but sleep overtakes you. All your worries slip away. Tomorrow is another day. There is still time to prepare. Yet again you are stirred from your slumber, cautioned that this is not the time to sleep. You try to listen to that small voice inside you — try to resist your body’s urge to sleep.

And He came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” – Matthew 26:40-41 (NASB)

Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Get up, let us be going; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand!” – Matthew 26:45-46
