Hunger for God’s Will

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work (John 4:34, NASB)

Do we hunger, as we do for food, to do the will of God? Do we seek to satisfy that hunger by working to accomplish God’s work?

A wheat field is planted for the purpose of growing food for people to eat. Bread depends on the flour that can be made from wheat. When planted the wheat sprouts green shoots and matures into a green field that generates heads of grain. When the field is white, the grain on those heads is ready to harvest.

“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest (John 4:35).”

There are people out there hungering for Jesus. They feel spiritually malnourished as they feed on the unhealthy spiritual food of this world. They hunger for Jesus. May we have a deep desire to satisfy their hunger with Jesus.

Many more believed because of His word; and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.” – John 4:41-42
