New Birth, New Life

And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus. – Mark 1:24-25 (NASB)

“Joseph did as the angel of the Lord commanded him.” He did not divorce her and go his own way. “He kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a son.” He did not impose his desire on her, but chose to follow God’s desire. When the child was born, “he called His name Jesus.” Jospeh did not place his name, his family name on Jesus, to claim him as his own. He gave him the name Jesus, the son of God.

New birth in you, new life in Jesus, means following God’s plan for your life. It means laying aside your desires for God’s desires. It means you become a child of God, a part of His family. May you experience the birth of new life in Christ this Christmas.
