The Power of God’s Voice in Your Life

David told us in Psalm 29:4: “The voice of the LORD is powerful, The voice of the LORD is majestic (NASB).” It’s easy for me to picture God’s voice as being powerful and majestic. I only have to look at creation and see the majestic beauty, the power of the weather, to see God’s strength. Yet I struggle to comprehend that this same God can strengthen me.

In the verses that follow in Psalm 29, David described the evidence of God’s strength in the world: “The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon (verse 5); The voice of the LORD hews out flames of fire (7); The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare (9).” God’s voice is powerful. The same voice that speaks to us; the same loving voice that speaks wisdom into our life.

God is fully capable of strengthening us for the trials of life. He is able to guide us along the straight and narrow path. He desires to redeem us from a life of sin; to sanctify us. When you stand in awe looking at the grandeur of His creation. When you feel the power of an approaching storm. When you read His word, know this same God seeks to strengthen you; seeks to have a relationship with you.

  1. Wow, this goes right along with Stu’s verse of the day:
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 KJV

  2. Amen. I felt strength after reading this to pray for something I had neglected til now. Also praying that all manner of things shall be well with you in this day for you.

  3. Amen! The God who spoke the universe into existence speaks to my life with this same power! I needed this, CG. My wife tested positive for COVID yesterday morning and it’s been an anxious 24 hours! Thankfully, her symptoms are not severe at this time. Please pray with me that they will not become that way. Thank you. Blessings.

    1. Thanks for sharing. So sorry to hear about your wife’s positive test. Praying for God’s strength for both of you. May the peace of Christ envelope you during this time. Blessings.
