Years ago I began highlighting Bible verses that spoke to me in the midst of traumatic events. This month I am sharing some of these verses and a short reflection.
“But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.” – Psalm 94:22 (NIV)
The steps creaked as I made my way up the steep, narrow staircase. Fear filled me as I approached the door by the top step. I slowly opened the door, preparing for someone to attack me. The door creaked as it opened, but no one emerged from the darkness. I flicked on the light to reveal an empty room. A sigh of relief as I whispered to myself, “God is my refuge.”

Amen! God is mighty, and His refuge brings us a safe place. He is always with us. Thanks for sharing this verse as well as your personal testament.
I am so thankful we can find safety in God’s arms. His love never fails.
I love how God recalls specific scriptures to mind to tell us that He knows what is going on in our daily lives. What a neat habit to be taking note of those moments!
Praise God for his love for us! Taking note of those times reminds me he is there for future challenges. He is a refuge, a fortress. Thanks for the comment. Blessings.
Over the years, I have found this to be one of the most comforting verses in the Bible. As well as reminding me that God protects me, it communicates the fact that he understands my fear, and cares about the troubles I am facing.
I like that — a comfort and a reminder. I’m so grateful for God’s love and grace, that he understands us and gently mentors us toward a deeper faith. Thanks for the comment. Blessings.
I’m been to the room at the top of the stairs, and it’s scary not knowing what’s behind that 🚪 door. But if you don’t make that climb, you miss out in God’s best. Risk is scary, but not risking has a down side as well.
Thanks for sharing. Even with God by our side, it is a scary thing. Stepping out in faith can seem risky, but yes there is also blessing in it.
Yes, God is my refuge and my strength… Thank you for the scripture for today. It’s perfect! ❤
Praise God he is steadfast, our fortress and refuge. Blessings.
