Tiny saplings reaching up
Toward sky so blue above
Young faith taking root
With new found faith in God
Growing up in shadows
Of God’s faithful high above
Towering trees rising up
Above tiny saplings below
Deep roots holding strong
Against many storms of life
Canopy of green leaves
Glowing in light above
Branches skim the heavens
Leaves quiver in the breeze
The Spirit of God is evident
To faithful saplings below
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. – Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)

AMEN! Big begets small. These verses from the book of Hebrews came to mind as I thought about your post:
“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the out come of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. “Hebrews 13:7-8
Like those verses They make me recall the the people God placed in my life to mentor me in my faith in Jesus Christ. Thanks for the comment. Blessings.
I absolutely love this!! “young faith taking root” The Lord led me here through this powerful message..
Oh that we’d be making spiritual deposits into the lives and hearts of our children, so that their faith in the Lord would grow!
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates…Deuteronomy 6:6-9
That is a great companion verse for this poem. Thanks for sharing. An additional thought I could not quite get to work in the poem is the dead trees I saw in the woods on my walk giving nutrients to the young saplings. Thanks for your comment. Blessings!
So many blessings and nuggets all around us! Thanking God for eyes to see, ears to hear, minds to understand, and hearts to receive all that He so graciously gives and teaches us!!
Wonderful. A great comparison and you can see trees that get twisted as they grow showing how we slip away but only to return.
Like that imagery. Continuing to reach for the light despite slipping.
What a great word picture (and actual picture, too!)
Thanks. Nothing like the woods to remind us of God and his faithfulness.
