At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”- Mark 15:33-34, NLT
When you feel forsaken, mocked by others, know that Jesus has felt the same feeling. He endured the temporary insults of the skeptics who heckled him, even as he hung dying on the cross. Jesus remained focused on doing God’s will, not the will of humanity. He ignored the expectations of others to remain focused on God’s calling for his life, God’s call to bring salvation from sin to you. Your endurance, your suffering now, your commitment to God’s calling for your life can bring the same to others.
