Christmas Priorities: Aligning Your Life with Christ

Mary observed, took note, and stored it all in her heart. She was open to seeing what God would do with this new baby and what she could do to assist God with His plan. She was aware of God at work around her and in her life.

Mary had responsibilities. She was immersed in the Jewish faith and her family. People expected certain things from her, yet she was also aware of the presence of God and the new thing he was doing. Her awareness of seeing God at work in this child fed her obedience to follow His will for her life.

And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. – Luke 1:38, NASB

Awareness of God, seeking Him, is the first step in aligning your life with His will. Knowing His purpose for your life, and seeking a deeper relationship with Him, nurtures a willful obedience to Him. Know that God has placed certain people in your life for a reason. Look for how your life and your obedience to God can impact those around you and lead to the fulfillment of God’s plan.

But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. – Luke 2:19

How can you today see past the expectations of people to welcome the new thing God is doing in your life?
