When you make a commitment to follow Jesus your faith will be tested. You will feel the heat of those who seek to dissuade you from seeking Christ. Some days the heat will be so intense it will force you to make a choice whether to continue on the path with Jesus.
This is part of the process of sanctification. God is testing your faithfulness to Him. He is removing the dross from your life to purify you in your faith in Jesus. Just as silver and gold are refined, you will be refined to be purified in Christ. Even in the testing, call on God and do not retreat.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ And they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.’” Zachariah 13:9, NASB
