What Are You Seeking in Life?

What are you seeking in life? Amidst the hectic pace, the demands and challenges on you, do you stop and ask what is driving you? In John 1:35-42, John the Baptist pointed out Jesus walking to two of his disciples and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God (35, NASB)!” The disciples then followed Jesus.

Perhaps you are following Jesus, going to church, reading your Bible, praying and worshipping God. In this passage in John, Jesus turned to the disciples following Him and asked, “What do you seek (38)?” They responded by asking Him where He was staying. Jesus then told them, “Come, and you will see (39).”

Jesus is looking at you following Him and asking “What do you seek?” The disciples responded to that question by going with Jesus and staying with Him that day (39). Scriptures does not tell us if they have an immediate answer, but they spent that day with Him.

It’s a question worth asking yourself. “What do you seek.” Don’t give an immediate answer, but spend a day with Jesus. Follow Him to the place where He is staying and truly seek Him and His purpose for your life.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. – Revelation 3:20, NASB

  1. Good point, brother. My tendency is to want a quick answer from God, so whatever I’m concerned for or wondering about will be addressed. But Jesus calls us to Himself—to spend the day with Him and learn from Him. God has the answer—to whatever we face, but more importantly, He is the Way, Truth, and Life. The greatest gift He gives us is Himself.
🙏 His richest blessings to you and yours.

    1. Thanks for that reminder that Jesus is the Way, Truth, and Life. To spend time with Him is to tap into His wisdom, His plan. Too often I seek a quick answer or my own answers. Praise God that He pursues us. Blessings.
