Have you ever felt like Job in the Bible where your world is crumbling around you and it seems like everyone has abandoned you? Maybe like Job, your friends want to analyze why there is so much calamity in your life. Perhaps you can identify with Job when he told his friends, “Why do you persecute me as God does, and are not satisfied with my flesh (Job 19:22, NASB)?”
Trauma in our lives can cause us to feel isolated from others. You seek someone to validate what you are going through, but no one does. Job expresses this in 19:13-14: “He has removed my brothers far from me, and my acquaintances are completely estranged from me. My relatives have failed, and my intimate friends have forgotten me.” In verse 19 he adds, “All my associates abhor me, and those I love have turned against me.” Can you relate to these remarks?
Yet through all his trials Job clings to his faith in God, knowing that He will never abandon him. He does not understand the reason for his great loss or his health problems, but he holds onto what is true. “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth (19:25).”
Despite the pain and difficulty of trials, God remains with us. We may not understand its purpose, but we can trust that God will not abandon you.
Thank God for His faithfulness. Be blessed.🤗🙏❤️
Indeed, praise God for His steadfast love. Blessings.
I know first hand the experience you described. My suffering didn’t reach to the level of Job’s, but the social isolation was there. Not every friend knows how to come along side someone who has endured, or is enduring personal trauma. Thank you for sharing about a topic that some shy away from. God Bless!
Thanks for sharing that, David. Those of us who have endured trauma do understand the emotional toll. That experience can equip us to help others who are going through trauma with empathy and understanding. May we continue to build up one another and strengthen each other in our faith in Jesus. Blessings.
