In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. – John 14:2, NASB
Years ago, when my wife and I were house hunting, we toured many different homes. Each home we visited had a distinct personality, reflecting the people who lived there. While sometimes the decor didn’t fit our taste, it did show the preferences of the people who lived there. It was distinctly their house.
I think of this when I read John 14:2. As believers in Jesus Christ, one day we will live forever in our Father’s house. But I think He won’t have a generic hotel room for you, a one size fits all place. I believe He has a place specifically prepared for you. I like to think it will have decor that fits your unique style and tastes. It will be your place with God.
That’s how special you are to God. You aren’t just a number, you are His special creation. You are uniquely created. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13, NIV).” You have been created for a specific purpose at this moment in history: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them (Ephesians 2:10, NASB).”
If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. – John 14:3, NASB
Amen. The Word offers us a glimpse of what awaits in our heavenly home. Blessings Chris for sharing your testament and these encouraging verses.
Praise God for His love and grace. Blessings.
I don’t think I’ve thought of Heaven as being a very personal place – just that I’d go there and love everything because God is there. But you’re right – God is a very personal God. I love this idea.
Praise God that we are created special. Thanks for the comment. Blessings.
So beautiful! Wishing you blessings!
