Last week I received the above note from WordPress congratulating me on the 15th anniversary of the day I launched this blog. It’s hard to remember what prompted me to make that first post which started me on this blogging journey. There have been many times when I’ve felt like quitting, but somehow I’ve managed to keep it going week after week.
Usually I try to schedule posts a month in advance, but there have been times when I have felt like the well is dry just days before the first of the month. I tell myself, “I’m out of ideas. It’s time to shut down the blog and call it quits.” I’ve had many of those moments and sometimes it takes me a few days to shift my focus back on God and His ideas.
During those times I have sought God about what to do with this blog. Often I’ve opened the Bible and no surprise, the answers begin to emerge from His Word. I’ll be reading a passage and something catches my attention. Before I know it, I have more posts for the blog which tells me to keep this blog going. It’s all God, not me.
Then there are times readers have given me encouragement through their comments. It reminds me that blogging about faith isn’t about the number of views, likes, or followers. It’s about sharing our walk of faith in Jesus with other people who are also on a journey. It is stopping along the way to help one fellow traveler as we both grapple with what it means to live out our faith in Christ. After all, God faithfully walks with us each step of this often difficult path called life. Shouldn’t we do the same?
Maybe someday the well will go dry and the posts will stop. If it does, I pray it will be God’s will and not mine. I pray God will continue to guide all of us who blog about faith in Jesus. May He fill us with His wisdom as we communicate His Word to the world.
Thank you for reading and blessings to you.
These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. – Deuteronomy 6:6-9, NASB
Chris, I appreciate your sharing of your journey of faith through your blog. Indeed, we receive far more than what our blog’s statistics show. God continues to open up His Word with another refreshing breath.
Thank you for your comment and your blog. Blessings.
