There are times in our life where it feels we are wandering in a wilderness and God gives us an instruction that does not make sense. We may look at it and say, “What am I supposed to do with that?” Yet trust God that He is preparing you for something in the future, giving you a glimpse of what he has planned for your life.
In Leviticus 14:33-53, God gave Moses instructions for if “Something like a mark of leprosy” becomes visible in their house (35).” It’s an extensive procedure on what the person and the priest should do. What’s interesting is that the Israelites were living in tents in the wilderness and God is telling them about houses they will have in the promised land. There are details about a house in a city with walls made with rocks (39-40).
God is giving the Israelites a glimpse of the homes they will have in the promised land. He is preparing them for what is to come, yet they must continue to have faith that God will fulfill His promise. Like the Israelites, we can become impatient and not believe God will deliver—that one day we will emerge from the wilderness and live in a solid home made with rocks. The wilderness is temporary, God’s promises are eternal.
In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.” – John 14:2-4, NASB
That’s pretty cool! 😊
God’s love and grace is evident in how much he did to prepare the Israelites for the promised land. It should reassure us as God prepares us for His work and the fulfillment of His promises. Blessings.
For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence. Hebrews 9:24 (NIV)
Amen, brother!
Another great companion verse. Thanks. Blessings.
