There is a blindness we can be afflicted with that prevents us from seeing the world as God sees it. The brokenness of people and their actions against us can prevent us from seeing their need for Jesus. A defensive posture can hinder us from helping them to see the peace of Christ. We need a heart for God to see people as God sees them—to remove our Spiritual blindness.
In Mark 10:46-52, a blind beggar heard that Jesus was passing by. He shouts, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me (47, NASB)!” He cannot visibly see Jesus, but he knows he is present. When Jesus called him to come to Him, Bartimaeus threw aside his cloak, “he jumped up and came to Jesus (50).”
Jesus asked him, “‘What do you want Me to do for you?’ And the blind man said to Him, ‘Rabboni, I want to regain my sight (51)!’” He immediately regained his sight and followed Jesus. For the first time, Bartimaeus can clearly see Jesus with his own eyes.
What is hindering you today from clearly seeing Jesus—from seeing people the way God sees them? Jump up and go to Jesus. When he asks, “What do you want Me to do for you?” Tell Him, “I want to regain my sight.”
