Prayer Journey—Dying Embers

Kindle my flame for you dear Lord. The world seeks to smother your flame in me. They douse me with inflammatory words, seeking to smother my love for you, but I cling to your ember that glows deep within. I refuse to let go of you dear Jesus. You are the source of eternal life. You are a wellspring of hope in a hopeless world. Fan this meager ember within me. Kindle your hope inside of me. May your flames rise up to deter the attacks. May those that seek to harm feel the intensity of your flame. May they cower at the presence of your light.

There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. – Exodus 3:2, NIV

By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people. – Exodus 13:21-22

You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” – John 6:67-68
