Concern rises from within me, nudging me to act. Worry infiltrates my mind, creating all kinds of scenarios that may or may not exist. An innumerable number of what-if’s spring forth to pollute my mind. Yet deep inside of me there is a faint whisper. It is barely audible above the noise and commotion of the worries swirling around me. “Be still.” The words register with a calming voice. “Know that I am God.” Dear God help me to take those words to heart — to trust you and your plan. Help me dear Lord to know you are there; always there; ever present in all circumstances. I cannot see beyond this moment; beyond the next hour; beyond the next day; but you see all things. Help me to be still; to rest in you dear God. Comfort my anxious heart. Sooth my restless mind. May I be still as your presence saturates my soul. “Be still.”

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Phillipians 4:6-7 (NIV)
