Prayer Journey — Empathy

Self. There are times it rises up within me demanding attention. It seeks to justify itself at the expense of others. Dear God, give me a spirit of humility. Help me to see others as you see them. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear the needs of others. Fill me with empathy for those suffering. You love me unconditionally despite my flaws, despite my failings. You sacrificed your only son Jesus to save me from certain death. Thank you for what you did for me. You have given me so much. Deepen my faith and trust in you dear Lord. Teach me how to express your love to others.

We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. – 1 John 4:16 (NASB)

  1. Our existence is a gift from Almighty God, and not by any achievement of ourselves. Our humanity would have us forget this and be filled with pride. Let us pray for His Spirit to keep us humble, safe in Him.
