Friday Faith — “Witness of the Centuries”

I collect Bible commentaries that are around 100 years old. Each Friday this month I will share an excerpt from one of these books. Today’s excerpt is from J.W. Mahood from his 1908 book, Make Jesus King:

“But is he not just the same today? ‘Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.’ What he did by the Sea of Galilee and in the streets of Jerusalem he is doing in our own day…Let the Christian institutions that have risen everywhere — hospitals for the sick, refuges for the oppressed, homes for the poor and aged, orphanages for little children…let them all witness to the power of the Son of God. The witness of Saint Mark is the witness of the centuries.”
