David, the future King of Israel, was anointed by the prophet Samuel while tending sheep, seemingly overlooked by his family. Despite feeling unqualified, David’s obedience and trust in God’s plan led to his transformation. This story reminds us to respond to God’s call, trust in His guidance, and take the next steps, as David did.

Listening for God’s Call

Samuel’s response to God’s call, “Speak, for Your servant is listening,” reflects his humble readiness to serve and listen to God. Raised in the house of the Lord, he grew in favor with God and men. Like Samuel, we should be prepared to hear and obey God’s call, seeking to understand His purpose for our lives.

Your Value in the Eyes of God

Too often we are quick to dismiss how The Lord views us and the tasks he appoints us to do. We are too quick to measure ourselves by the world’s standards instead of by God’s standards.
