What was that moment like to see Jesus face to face? The magi traveled far for that moment and when they saw him, they fell to the ground and worshipped him. All their earthly identity, their worldly prestige melted away before Jesus. May we have the same response this Christmas, to fall to the ground before our Lord Jesus; to worship him and give him praise; to present our life, our treasures to him. May we see Jesus in our life; know his presence; know him in a deep way. May we praise God for guiding us to Jesus, for his patient love and grace in giving us salvation. All praise and honor to you dear Lord.

What does it mean to be satisfied, to be content? Can anything in this world truly satisfy my desires and needs? Only you dear Lord can satisfy. You are eternal. I praise you that you make yourself known to us. May the desires of our heart be to praise you, to seek you. I praise you Jesus for giving us the way to salvation. May we find true satisfaction in you.

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. – Psalm 90:14

My wounds are deep, yet I pray to you dear Lord to heal these wounds. I am weak, with no strength left, yet I pray to you to revive me, to restore me. The cold overtakes me, it chills me to the bone, yet I praise you for your promise of spring and new life. Despite the crushing weight of this world, I will press on and praise you. You are my hope, my life dear Lord.

In you dear God I find my hope. In Jesus Christ I find my salvation. Without you in my life dear Lord, I would be lost. I do not understand why you would spare a sinner like me, yet you constantly shower me with your grace. You patiently nurture me, deepening my faith. It causes me to praise you even more for what you have done in my life. Thank you God for sending your son Jesus. I praise you for your Word. I praise you dear Lord. All praise to you our Heavenly Father.

The leaves fall, removing the splendor from the trees. Branches once adorned with colorful garments admired by all are now left stark and bare. Colors once worn with pride now litter the ground, soon to decay. Help us Lord to contain our pride, to not wrap ourselves in self worship. Let us not retreat from publicly praising you for all we have. This morning we humble ourselves before you and acknowledge your greatness. May we approach this week seeking what we can accomplish for you dear God and not ourselves.

“Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation. All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. He wants to put a new song in my heart, but I do not know the words yet. He wants to make me anew, but I do not know who I am or who I should be. I am being transformed into something I have yet to see. All I can do for now is praise you dear God, that you have set me on solid ground; that you have given me a solid foundation to stand on; a firm place to rest; a place to be still and know you are God. Without you I would remain in the depths of the mud and mire, stuck in the slimy pit. My trust is in you God. You are my hope.

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. In the changing seasons, I see you dear Lord. I see your hand in the detail of emerging fall colors on the leaves of the trees. I see your touch in the way all the leaves blend together to create a symphony of beauty for our eyes.

I praise you dear Lord for your hand in the intricate details of our lives, for your touch on the littlest things in our life. Even though I often cannot see how these small details contribute to the larger tapestry, I praise you that your promises are true, that indeed you are creating a larger picture of beauty. I praise you for your never ending love for us, for your abundant grace. You are worthy of all praise. I praise you that some day we will see the vast vista of all the intricate details together. All praise to you dear God.

Pure praise. What does that look like dear God? To stop myself from moving; to stop my mind from racing thoughts; to approach you with nothing but praise. Shedding all my earthly chains for this moment, I come before you empty. I lift my empty hands to you dear God and exalt your name. You are worthy of all praise. All I am is because of you. You are deserving of all praise.

Praise to you dear God for the way you show your love and grace. I praise you that you do not always meet my expectations, but instead choose the better path for me; the path with the long term view, not short term gain. I praise you for the littlest surprises that appear in our day to bring encouragement. Your love dear God abounds. It is unfathomable. I sing praises that your love is not limited by our ability to love you back. You created us in your image and love us beyond measure. May our love for you deepen each day dear God.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge —that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:17-19 (NIV)

This morning God I feel the wind in my hair. It blows forcefully past my face. I hear thunder in the distance. I feel rain falling upon me. A fresh, clean smell fills the air. I praise you God that you fill our senses with your creation. I praise you that you fill us with your Spirit. I praise you that you give us hope in a world filled with hopelessness. I praise you that you are present even in the small things. Thank you for your infinite care for us. Thank you that your grace and mercy abound. I give you praise this morning!

He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth — the Lord God Almighty is his name. – Amos 4:13 (NIV)
