Wait!

Usually when wait, we are anticipating something. Waiting at the airport for a plane to arrive. Waiting for a red stop light to turn green. Waiting in a long line to be served. But lately I’ve felt God telling me to wait on Him, but for what I’m not sure.

How can one wait for something and not know what to wait for? It becomes a matter of trust that God wants good things for us if we learn to wait on him and trust what comes, even the unexpected, is for what’s best for us.  Sometimes our impatience can cause us to act on our own accord with consequences that are not always good for us.

Waiting itself, resting in God and knowing we are in His care, builds up our faith. Isaiah 40:31 tells us, “Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary (NASB).” We cannot know the future until it happens, but we can be assured our future is in God’s hands.

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. – James 4:14, NASB

Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. – Philippians 4:11
