Wellness for the Soul

During the heat of summer, when you’re thirsty, you seek a drink of water. When life heats up and makes you emotionally thirsty, do you seek God through prayer, worship and His Word? Trials in life have a way of shaking things up and pointing us toward God.

In times of trouble He wants us to reach out to Him. It’s a reminder that everything here is temporal and will not last, even our tears. Revelation 21:4 tells us, “And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away (NASB).” Any hope in the temporary things of this world will disappoint us. This world will pass away: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea (Revelation 2:1).”

As believers in Jesus, we have an eternal hope that will never pass away. The trials of this earth are temporary, like morning dew evaporating in the presence of the sun. Like the woman at the well, Jesus offers us living water that refreshes our weary soul. With God’s help, we will overcome this world.

He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. – Revelation 21:7, NASB
