Change can be hard, particularly if it is something you did not plan on. You may feel like the Israelites in Jeremiah 29 who have been sent into exile in Babylon and forced to live in a place that is very foreign to them. Perhaps you, like the Israelites, had your own plans and ignored God’s warnings that it was about to happen. Either way, now you are in a strange place which may have you confused about what God is doing in your life.
Be reassured that God has a plan for your life. Often he uses change to get your attention and lead you to something better. Through his prophet Jeremiah, God tells the remnant of Israelites in Babylon, “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11, NASB).”
You may feel like your life has fallen apart as all that is familiar to you disappears, but be assured that God knows the plans he has for your life. Have you sought to know those plans? He wants what is truly best for your life, to give you a future and a hope. You only need to seek Him and embrace that truth.
“Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf; for in its welfare you will have welfare.” – Jeremiah 29:7, NASB
