God gave us His word to guide us, to inspire us, to give us hope. Yet if we are not tapped into God’s word, how can we know what He wants to give us. Even more important, if we don’t turn His words into knowledge and practice for our daily life, how can His Spirit guide our life?
Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (NIV).” The Spirit of God within us gives us God’s wisdom, not our own wisdom. His word active in our life helps us discern His will versus our will, His desire versus our fleshly desire.
God created you for a purpose, for this moment in history. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us of this: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God is active and alive today at this moment. He is calling you to serve Him today. Don’t miss His plan for your life.
See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. – Hebrews 3:12-13, NIV
