Conquering Your Fears

You have seen God do amazing things. Now he is calling you to do something where the odds seem stacked against you. You feel weak and powerless against what is in front of you. Yet you know God can help you overcome significant obstacles. He has faithfully been by your side. 

These are the fears the Israelites faced as they were about to enter the promised land under Joshua’s leadership. Across the Jordan river stood many powerful nations mightier than them. On the surface, it seemed impossible that they could conquer these nations and possess their land. But God told them, “If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’ you shall not be afraid of them; you shall well remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt. (Deuteronomy 7:17-18, NASB).”

The same God who was with the Israelites is the same God with you at this moment. The advice he gave then holds true today: “You shall not dread them, for the LORD your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God (21).” God is in your midst right now. He is an awesome God who asks you to be faithful to Him and keep His commandments. Your strength is in Him. Let the Spirit of God guide you and overcome your fears.

Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments; – Deuteronomy 7:9, NASB

He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. – Revelation 21:7
