Comfort Me–Praying through Psalm 23

2024 Top Ten Editor’s Note: Now through January 16 I will daily repost the popular series “Praying Through Psalm 23.”

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4

As I wander in this world, seeking my way, I look up on the hill and I see your ever watchful eye upon my every move. You are the good shepherd, guiding and protecting me with your rod and your staff. You left the ninety-nine to seek me when I was lost. Your staff in the hand of Moses guided them with signs and wonders. You rule over the universe, yet your love and grace is focused on me. When I look upon your rod and staff, I find comfort. Your wisdom is truth in a confusing world.

  1. Amen. This verse witnesses several connections with Moses, David, and Jesus–our Good Shepherd. We are blessed to walk in the shadow of His light.
