Quiet Waters—Praying Through Psalm 23

2024 Top Ten Editor’s Note: Now through January 16 I will daily repost the popular series “Praying Through Psalm 23.”

He leads me beside quiet waters—Psalm 23: 2, NASB

I step onto the turbulent waters. Violent waves crash over me. I am drenched, soaked to the bone, overcome with misery. My body is chilled to its core. Numb and disoriented, I sink into the depths below, drowning in sorrow. I feel your hand grasping mine, pulling me up from the depths. You raise me above the surface, above the storm. Peace radiates from your face. You lead me to a place of quiet, of stillness. Calm, quiet waters where the storm is no more.

  1. Amen. Chris, your blessed testament shares the goodness we receive from the Lord’s quiet waters. For me, the early morning time frequently finds me in God’s most precious, peaceful place.
