Green Pastures—Praying Through Psalm 23

2024 Top Ten Editor’s Note: Now through January 16 I will daily repost the popular series “Praying Through Psalm 23.”

He makes me lie down in green pastures; – Psalm 23:2, NASB

I trek through the hot, dry desert of my own making. Parched mouth, the dry dusty air rises up to cover me. I long for a drink to moisten my soul. In the shimmering heat, ahead I see an oasis of lush green vegetation with a spring of cool, clear water. You offer me a drink of living water to refresh my soul. It nourishes me deep within my being. He tells me to lie down in the green pasture to rest my weary body. There, laying on the soft, green grass I see Jesus my shepherd looking down on me with a smile. “Rest your weary soul in my presence,” He tells me.
