Confronting Doubt in God

It’s a difficult thing to trust someone, particularly if it’s something that is important to you. Yet it is a powerful thing when we can trust someone with our life. That level of trust says a lot about what we think of that person.

Proverbs 3:5 tells us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart.” It is a powerful statement that challenges us to fully trust in the Lord; to give our full heart to Him; to trust Him with our life.

Yet I question myself as to why  it’s difficult for me to trust God in all things. It seems there is always a nagging doubt somewhere that tempts me to hang onto my own strength and worldly wisdom. Fortunately Proverbs 3 gives us counsel to calm our doubts.

The second part of Proverbs 3:5 tells us, “And do not lean on your own understanding.” It is our limited understanding of things that can cause doubts. We need to remember that God has the big picture. You can trust him with your whole heart. Proverbs 3:6 reminds us, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

When doubts arise, recognize God’s wisdom and seek Him. Humbly ask Him to guide you as you move through the day. Trust that His path is best for you. Proverbs 3:7 adds: “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.”
