There are many things in this world that can take our joy away. Yet if we hold onto the joy we have in the Lord, no one can take that away from us. Our faith in Jesus gives us an eternal hope that surpasses the temporal hope of this world. It is a hope that can guide us through turbulent times.
Jesus told his disciples, “In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world (John 16:33, NASB).” In Christ we have victory over the world. In Jesus we have victory over those who seek to steal our joy.
Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. John 16:22, NASB
