There is a wisdom like none found on this earth. It stands apart from the knowledge purveyed by those in this world. Solomon sought this wisdom from God: “So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours (1 Kings 3:9)?”
Word of Solomon’s God-given wisdom spread. Even the mighty were drawn to him because of what God had done. “You exceed in wisdom and prosperity the report which I heard,” the Queen of Sheba told him (1 Kings 10:7).” She added: “Blessed be the LORD your God who delighted in you to set you on the throne of Israel; because the LORD loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness (9).”
When Jesus was born, Kings were again drawn to God: “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him (Matthew 2:1-2).”
The magi came bearing gifts, just as the Queen of Sheba had done with Solomon: “She gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and a very great amount of spices and precious stones (I Kings 10:10).” Likewise, the magi brought gold and spices for the King: “After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh (Matthew 2:11).”
God’s wisdom, His Word stands out in this world. When Jesus was only twelve, “all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers (Luke 2:47).” God’s Word, His knowledge and truth, is available to us today. No matter what your stature in this world, humbly seek Jesus. Let His Spirit fill you with His knowledge and truth. Lay your life before Him, the most precious gift of all.
