At the core of your inner being, what do you tap to get you through each day? What is the source of your strength; what makes you proud; what pleases your eyes, and warms your heart? The answer to these questions can say a lot about what you have faith in.
The book of Ezekiel has a lot to say about the condition of the inner being of Israel and their attitude toward God. Over the years, Israel had become complacent in their obedience to God, and compromised their faith by taking on the practices of other countries and their idol worship. Ezekiel is sent to warn Israel of the coming judgment by God for their disrespect of Him and their abominable practices.
Verse 24:25 in the book of Ezekiel is instructive for us today on the degree of our faith in God: “As for you, son of man, will it not be on the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their pride, the desire of their eyes and their heart’s delight, their sons and their daughters (NASB).”
If these elements of your life are centered in this world, they are all temporal. True, inner strength is found in God. Our pride should be centered on God and the salvation he has given through Jesus. God should be the desire of our eyes and our heart’s delight. As believers in Jesus, we are children of God.
All of these are attributes of an inner being centered on faith in Jesus. These are eternal things that can be never taken away—eternal truths found in God’s Word. One day we will be judged for what we did with this life that God gave us.

Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
