Dinner with a Friend

I did not feel worthy. Would he ever forgive me? My heart ached to be with him, to hear him. Then I heard a faint voice. Did I imagine it? Someone called my name.

From the front entrance; a firm tap on the door. My heart raced, my hand on the door knob. Slowly, I opened the door, and there he was standing with a smile on his face. He came to me; pursued me; didn’t give up on me.

“You didn’t give up on me either,” He said. “You listened and heard my voice.”

I welcomed him in and he entered my home. I asked for forgiveness and he embraced me. Then we sat together and shared a meal. We shared life like old friends.

Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” – Revelation 3:20-22, NIV
