During the next few weeks, each Monday I will be praying through the fruit of the Spirit, focusing on one word in Galatians 5:22-23. Today’s word is joy.
There are days dear Lord where joy seems hard to find. It is like a rare gem buried beneath the dirt and debris of life. I tunnel deep into the darkness, searching with a dim light, hoping to find a sparkle of joy. Help me dear Lord, in those moments of despair, to focus on you and the joy you hold. Let not the hostility of this world steal your joy from me. May your Spirit fill me with your joy, an eternal joy that never fades. Help me to hold tight to your joy, your light, your hope in the midst of darkness. You dear Jesus are the light of the world. Your joy never fades. I praise you this day.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23, NIV
