Lately I have seen the narrow road as narrowing my focus on Jesus. On this road, there is only a path wide enough to accommodate me and Jesus. It is only wide enough for the two of us—so narrow that we must walk very closely together, side by aside. At times the path is so narrow that we walk single file with Jesus in the lead. It is so narrow and treacherous that I do not want to go any further. Yet he coaxes me on, encouraging me; reassuring me; looking at me with deep, caring love. I stay close to him as night descends and covers me in darkness. Pressing on—staying close as Jesus leads the way. We enter a deep dark crevice, barely wide enough for us to pass. It’s hard, immovable rock walls tower above us. The cold and damp chills me to the bone. I stumble, exhausted, unable to move. He extends his hand to mine, a firm grip that lifts me up. He dissipates the chill. Light illuminates from him. There is a warmth about him that restores my soul. The path widens. We are again side by side, continuing this journey through life.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. – Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV)
Amen! This testament about life’s narrowing path reaches into the heart of one’s faith . . . Jesus!
May we continue to walk with Jesus, following His lead.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and reflections on the narrow road. It’s amazing how God can use even the most limited and most difficult paths to draw us closer to Him. I’m glad you have found comfort and strength walking closely with Jesus. The passage from Matthew 7:13-14 is a powerful reminder of the importance of choosing the right path in life. May God continue to guide you and bless you on your journey.

I’ve never considered how the narrow road narrows my focus on Jesus. It makes sense, that as the heavenly path narrows, distractions are fewer. Yet, the path with Jesus isn’t covered with roses—at least not always. But his strength is perfect.
A thoughtful and helpful post, as always, brother Chris. 🙏The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you, and give you peace.🕊️✝️
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. May we keep our eyes on Jesus. May He strengthen us as we encounter struggles. My we continue to find joy in the Lord! Blessings to you David.
