Parched No Longer

Leave the past behind

Let it lay

Do not fret about it

Step forward

Boldly

Learn from the past

Turn to the present

See the new thing

Rising up

From the barren land

A path emerging

Out of dense underbrush

Wide and open

No twisted vines

Or thorny brush

To entangle

A clear path forward

I will lead you

Come now, follow

The time is now

The dry, dusty past

Has parched your soul

Thirst that never left

Your brittle soul

Now leave behind

Hear the water

Bubbling up

From dry sand

See it moisten

A river rising up

Soothing, refreshing

Immerse yourself

In my living water

I will make you whole

Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. “Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert. – Isaiah 43:18-19 (NASB)

  1. Thank you! The LORD gave me these verses at the beginning of the year. Your poem reflects His call and His hope. We are going forward.
