Prayer Journey — True Purpose

This morning I am back to posting “Prayer Journey” each Monday morning. I have found this to be a helpful way for me to collect my thoughts as the work week begins, a way to share what’s on my heart. I hope you too find it helpful and that it helps you have your own conversation with God.

I humbly seek you this morning dear Lord. I ask you to fill me with your wisdom. Help me to empty myself of selfish pride, of self-made wisdom. May I trust that you have a purpose for all things; that you have placed me here at this time and this moment for a reason. May I rest in your purpose, not my own sense of what my purpose is at this moment. Help me not to draw on worldly wisdom, but renew my faith in you; renew my spirit and my hope in you. Thank you for the grace you continue to lavish on me. I praise you that you count me worthy to be your child.

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV)

  1. Spot on, CG, and beautifully expressed. That’s the prayer of my heart too! Think I’ll make a copy of this and tuck it into my Bible study notebook–a daily reminder of God’s purpose and my need of continual renewal. Thank you!

    1. I am always amazed by how God continues to renew me; continues to pull me deeper into knowledge of Him. Thanks for the comment. Blessings.

  2. These words could come from my heart. I do not craft such beautiful prayers, but I love reading them and praying them. Somewhat like praying sections from the Psalms. Thank you. Hope to remember to check in next Monday/Tuesday.

    1. I too enjoy the Psalms. They are so filled with emotion — some filled with pain, yet still praising God. Thanks for the comment. Blessings.
